Hi, I’m Ali Mustufa.

I build AI applications and run AI workshops for leaders and developers.

Since 2015, I’ve taught programming, cloud and machine learning at colleges and companies, and worked in developer education at Postman and Pieces.

What I’m doing now

In my workshops, leaders work through how to choose and assess a first pilot. Developers practise specifying a task, reviewing generated code and testing its behaviour.

I like sessions where people can ask an awkward question, try something, and change their mind.

Freelance development and training

I began freelancing in 2015, building APIs, websites, chatbots, and business applications. I also taught programming, cloud, and machine learning.

Over those years, I taught at more than 180 colleges in 38 cities and delivered Google Cloud training for company teams. I liked teaching through exercises and questions, and I still teach that way.

2017–2019

Google Crowdsource

My Google Crowdsource community appointment focused on machine-learning education and university communities in India. It was a community role, not a job at Google.

That work informed my TEDx talk about crowdsourcing data for machine learning and the people who contribute it.

API education at Postman

I joined Postman’s Student Programs team and moved into developer advocacy. I taught APIs to students and enterprise teams, and worked with partner communities.

I delivered 318+ API sessions and designed teaching material that other trainers could reuse. I also worked on programme dashboards and partner-training delivery.

AI workshops at Pieces

At Pieces, I delivered 80+ AI workshops, built the workshop platform, and worked on onboarding, technical content, and events.

I regularly shared feedback from developers with engineering, including what came up as people tried the product. My time at Pieces ended in August 2026.

Developer communities

I’m part of AI Mumbai and TensorFlow User Group Mumbai, and lead GitHub User Group Mumbai. My earlier GDG Cloud Mumbai leadership ran from August 2018 to August 2024, before I handed it over.

My projects often start with something I need. Fluent began with live translation for a talk, Mirror with my own facial-exercise routine, and Phrase Passport with a trip. I teach from the decisions I make while building them.

Mumbai is home.

Mumbai is home, and San Francisco is a regular working base. I work with teams across the United States and worldwide, travelling for workshops, conferences and consulting. We can schedule virtual sessions in your team’s time zone.

Teaching, speaking, and community have also taken me to Singapore, Seoul, Colombo, New York, Seattle, Istanbul, Dubai, and Barcelona.
